the waste gate helps by releaseing presure when the throttle is snap shut so the pressure does not bluid up and spin the turbo backwards. And when it is opened the turbo does not have to re spool

nah, internal wastegate. controls boost pressure. internal is fine for low pressure but ya need an external if you are going to run high boost.

what bimmer boy is talking about is the blow off valve, goes off whens the throttle is suddenly shut so the charge of air doesn't go back to the turbo and slow it down, or something along those lines.

yep that is the actuator that opens the internal waste gate at a set psi. the pipe comeing off that is where you can plum in a boost tap to ajust the psi setings

looks like a ihi type turbo am i right?

yup this is the actuator for the wastegate

it controls a lever that opens and shuts the wastegate

are you thinking of turboing your bimmer?

nice reading heh
hehehe sh*t did it say it on the snall?? :D my screens stuffed [real dark] but yeah that would be a good turbo for ur bmw as they boost ok upto 10-12psi and spool up fast.. not that u'dd need more than 8psi on a bimmer id be thinking ;)

I wouldn't bother with a TD04 on a 2.5, way too small!!

I posted a link a while back with a 323i with a WRX TD04, and it was stated as being too small, nice & responsive but no topend!!

Hell, they come on GSR's & base WRX's!!

Even a Nissan T3 off a Rb20det would be getting small on a 2.5!!

can't go wrong with a garrett T28 from a RB25DET nissan engine... ball bearing as well usually, plenty of flexibility for mods to turbo, fairly priced as well if you look around.

Got a TD04 on my van, sure it's a diesel but it runs outta boost around 3k rpm, boosts from 1250 tho haha
