All '87 E30s PFL?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to confirm that all 1987 E30 models are PFL? And if so, will the Facelift front windows fit?

I think they changed over in late 87 to facelift. I'm pretty sure all the windscreens are the same.

Yeah Im sure its a PFL (all the 87s on Trademe are chrome bumper-PFL). I dont see why they'd change the windows but always best to check.

Yes/no.

Build year and rego year are often different, so you could have a registered 1988 e30 that is pre f/l built in 1987.

Also the different factories/assembly plants around the globe switched to F/L at different times depending on when they ran out of F/L bodies.

Some were even hybrids (I've seen at least 2) which were made up of parts from both cars. Most of these looked like F/L but with some pre F/L bits.

I'm not sure whether any F/L's squeezed into 1987, but there were definitely some pre F/L 1988 cars.

Side windows (at least the front coupe windows) are different between the PFL and FL E30's

The E30 M3 had a completely different rear window, but I believe the rest of the windows are fine.

Easiest way as far as I can tell, to know the difference is look at the rear wheel arches.

If they are approximately the same height as the front arches, then its PFL

If the rear arches are dropped, then its FL

I have 2 PFL 1987's
