How quick?

Recommended Posts

1/4 mile time is personally the best gauge of pace for me.

Does any one know what an e30 m3 evo would do it in?

They aren't that quick are they?

Not sure, but 15 flat would mean that it would beat a new Commodore or Falcon in a straight line. cool. :mosh:

Yea, except they're doing 13s now.

I love e30 m3s like every mofo on the planet, but its almost getting into the all show no go catagory. Spose a supercharger would fix that

Just because it's not fast by todays standards doesn't mean its all show no go, I'd make the assumption it out-handles a lot of the cars around.

wow speed in a straight line....really cool measure of speed

corners and ill say again....corners

I like 1/4 miles, but measure of speed is definitely on the track, or as said, corners.

Commodores and Falcons will get a wake up call when they are against a M3 csl.

You have to remember engine sizes a 3.0 or 3.2 (BMW) versus a 5.7, 6.0, ford numbers anyone?

M3 Is value for everything. money, weight, displacement, quality, safety, performance, and it has the heart of a BMW.

My 2c

Yea, a car based on a 15 year old platform vs. a car that is actually 15 years old.

Gotta love how the commode (no sp!) leans so heavily on its front wheels to dial out understeer.

I hate to point out that anyone can make a car go fast for 400m. A more true reflection of how good a car is in a straight line, is if you take that in conjunction with the Standing km time.

i.e in theory, mine will do 14.3 for 400m and 24.7 to 1km.

Try that in an STi.

Oh, and the E30 M3 handles and pulls like a schoolboy. What more could you want?

So you're saying it goes hard and fast, but not for very long at all?

Again, I'll point out that most Jap cars are geared to be Quick. Not Fast.

They don't continue to accelerate like a European car will (assuming it has horsepower). Look at the linearity of the acceleration figures.

So, no a standard STi wouldn't beat me to a kilometre, nor would it beat me in a race across Germany.

Don't get me wrong, I think the engineering that goes into the Jap cars in phenomenal and I love driving them.

But they aren't designed to be a complete car.

Quick. Not Fast

My mistake I thought you were meaning fast not quick.

what do you mean in theory Cain???Obviously the second 600 m passes quicker than the first 400 cos at the end of the 400 you are already doing 160 and prolly just changed into fourth....what is the top speed at 1000m?

where do those figures come from.?...I know what you mean about the 5 tho the feeling i get is the performance envelope for my car is aimed at 140-200....and thats for an engine first plonked into a car what.....1960 something????I think it would definetly wind out to 230-240 or so

E30 M3 does it in 15.4 seconds

E30 M3 kat. (195ps) takes 16.1 seconds

E30 M3 EVO I also 15.4 seconds

E30 M3 EVO II does it in 15.1 seconds

I don't have the quarter miles times of a SportEvo III
