m325i 709 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 1/4 mile time is personally the best gauge of pace for me. Does any one know what an e30 m3 evo would do it in? They aren't that quick are they?
Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 16, 2005 15 flat?
bravo 35 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Not sure, but 15 flat would mean that it would beat a new Commodore or Falcon in a straight line. cool. :mosh:

m325i 709 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 I love e30 m3s like every mofo on the planet, but its almost getting into the all show no go catagory. Spose a supercharger would fix that
Surge 1 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Just because it's not fast by todays standards doesn't mean its all show no go, I'd make the assumption it out-handles a lot of the cars around.
Gus 5 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 wow speed in a straight line....really cool measure of speed corners and ill say again....corners

BMW POWER 2 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 I like 1/4 miles, but measure of speed is definitely on the track, or as said, corners. Commodores and Falcons will get a wake up call when they are against a M3 csl. You have to remember engine sizes a 3.0 or 3.2 (BMW) versus a 5.7, 6.0, ford numbers anyone? M3 Is value for everything. money, weight, displacement, quality, safety, performance, and it has the heart of a BMW. My 2c
kiwi535 538 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 on a windy road a commodore or falcon wouldnt see where a m3 went..esp an e 30 m3
Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Yea, a car based on a 15 year old platform vs. a car that is actually 15 years old. Gotta love how the commode (no sp!) leans so heavily on its front wheels to dial out understeer.
cainchapman 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 (edited) I hate to point out that anyone can make a car go fast for 400m. A more true reflection of how good a car is in a straight line, is if you take that in conjunction with the Standing km time. i.e in theory, mine will do 14.3 for 400m and 24.7 to 1km. Try that in an STi. Oh, and the E30 M3 handles and pulls like a schoolboy. What more could you want? Edited March 16, 2005 by cainchapman
m325i 709 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Try that in an STi. STI would eat you! haha
Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Oh, and the E30 M3 handles and pulls like a schoolboy. What more could you want? So you're saying it goes hard and fast, but not for very long at all?
cainchapman 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2005 Again, I'll point out that most Jap cars are geared to be Quick. Not Fast. They don't continue to accelerate like a European car will (assuming it has horsepower). Look at the linearity of the acceleration figures. So, no a standard STi wouldn't beat me to a kilometre, nor would it beat me in a race across Germany. Don't get me wrong, I think the engineering that goes into the Jap cars in phenomenal and I love driving them. But they aren't designed to be a complete car. kiwi535 538 Report post Posted March 17, 2005 (edited) i.e in theory, mine will do 14.3 for 400m and 24.7 to 1km. what do you mean in theory Cain???Obviously the second 600 m passes quicker than the first 400 cos at the end of the 400 you are already doing 160 and prolly just changed into fourth....what is the top speed at 1000m? where do those figures come from.?...I know what you mean about the 5 tho the feeling i get is the performance envelope for my car is aimed at 140-200....and thats for an engine first plonked into a car what.....1960 something????I think it would definetly wind out to 230-240 or so Edited March 17, 2005 by kiwi535
