rookie 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2010 So on saturday i went down to cambridge to pick up my latest purchase - a set of E46 Black electric leather seats for my sedan. I got them for an absolute steal $101! The place where they were purchased from had no idea about them and couldnt tell me anything aside from that they were electric and for a sedan. I turned up on saturday morning and they had been cleaned up (photos on trademe led me to believe they were in very bad shape but turned out to just be dirty) and they are IMMACULATE! So this comes to my problem... i realise i need to wire them in, postive, negative and a wire to the bus for memory, but now im wondering if they might actually be heated too...? If so, i should wire that in aswell, is there any quick way for me to tell if they are heated or not just by looking at them? Distinguishing features? Any help would be greatly appreciated (some pics attached). Thanks, Rick

rookie 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2010 so after a bit more reading and reviewing cars for sale, im going to assume heating comes standard with all leather seats! More wires! Wil do a write up in case anyone is interested.

pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2010 you may need to pull apart the seat base and check for a heating pad, also try locating where all the wires go. im assuming that the e46 has the occupancy sensor and perhaps pre tensioner in the seatbelt stalk? so if you check the drivers one there will be some wires going to the stalk, but have a look for some that dissapear into the seat base. jochen 4 Report post Posted October 13, 2010 you may need to pull apart the seat base and check for a heating pad, No you don't All you need to do is look at the connector and the wire colours, and compare with the WDS. All wire colours determine the wire function so look at the wiring diagram for heated seats and your wire colours - you immediately see if you have this function or not. Like wise for lumbar control, massage, ventillation, seat motors, etc No dismantling required.
