Splitting a manual gearbox?

Recommended Posts

So yay! I have to replace the input shaft bearing in the ZF gearbox I have.

What I want to know is how many bits are going to fall out when I split the casing open?

Can I just open it or do I have to remove other pieces first?

In fact, if bits do fall out - chances are they weren't important and you can save weight by not putting them back in! :)

just make sure you leave it atleast 3 months before you put it all back together, (gives you time to remember where everything goes...)

Did you end up opening it up?

If not, want to flick it off to someone who will?
