f.g. 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2010 ok the burn out video and the stubbie video both had me in the isle!! I like how right at the end of one some one says "thats how you do it on the west side" :-) LOL!! ok so stubbies are rediculas short shorts worn by westys and also a can of beer... jandles are rubber sandles here (straps or no straps) as well as thongs and a swandri is some kind of jacket ... the more I learn the more I'm going to like it there! it's pure entertainment! plese tell me that no one really wears stubbies anymore..... (lol @ comes in brown and a one size too small... lol) ok any suggestion of things I should know?

westy 614 Report post Posted October 21, 2010 (edited) Did we get apic of a Swandri? Also, someone should probably explain 'taking the piss' to him. Edited October 21, 2010 by westy
bravo 35 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 Does anyone else find the kiwi sense of humour funnier when it's being viewed by a non-kiwi? Or do I just think I'm funnier than i am. Don't answer that. A stubbie is actually a short bottle of beer - I don't know where the f**k a can of beer is called a stubbie. Swandri's are woolen jackets usually with a tartan design. Thongs is the Aussie word for jandals. The etymology of the word is "Japanese Sandals". And these days Sandals are "Safety Jandals". Westies aren't the only ones who wear stubbies. They are often worn at cricket matches as part of the uniform of the "beige brigade", and by my dad. Although he prefers blue denim or forest green rather than brown. Stubbies are traditionally worn "one size too small" to emphasise a mans endowment, but commonly seen two sizes too small with the sack hanging out (once again - my dad). He especially likes to drink stubbies in his stubbies.

f.g. 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 LOL!! this stuff is great! westy those jackets are terrible looking!!!... looks like a Scotts man threw up (got sick I think is your term) Bravo, I'm lovin all this stuff! there is a lot here that is a lot more fun to explain than it is to live with because of ordinarity Jandles makes a lot more sense.... so stubbies are still predominate for the older generation or do you guys wear them too (I am assuming that you all are younger like me (24)) also would I have to buy a pair or can I get away with it because I'll have a "funny accent" Thanks again guys, I'm still laughing about stubbies.... and thinking about bravo's dad made me a little made me a little queasy Next questions are: is L&p a beer? yes some one please tell me what "taking the piss" means my curiosity has been piqued!! westy 614 Report post Posted October 22, 2010 Taking the piss is basically what we've been doing this whole thread ha. Finding humour at someone elses expense. Threw up could be; barfed, puked, chucked, hurled, chundered etc etc. Stubbies shorts aren't common attire any more, been a long time since I wore a pair. L@P is a lemon flavoured fizzy drink (carbonated). World famous in NZ. And heres another Swanndri since ya like so much. Oh, and Bravo's not exaggerating ha.
