What Getrag Gearbox?

Recommended Posts

I have a manual gearbox from an e36 325i. It has the following numbers on it. Which gearbox is it? Everything i've read says its probably a 250g?

Getrag

042

225

220.0.00225.97

Can anyone in the know help? Also will this bolt up to all m50/m52 engines?

Thanks.

If it came off an m50 it would be safe to presume it would go back on any m50.

Pretty sure bell housing bolt spacing is the same through all m50/52 engines,

If its a replacement for an 328i/m3 you would need to use getrag linkages

as ZF linkages on 328i/m3 are different apparently.

I have a spare m50b20 block lying around if you want to check that it bolts up.

It came off an m50b25, i removed it from the engine. Just wanted to know which box it was. I know it fits m50, and am pretty sure it fits m52/54 just wanted comfirmation. Thanks for the ID site, however doesn't show e36 boxes, just the older ones.

Anyone else know what box it is??

its a getrag 250 , used in most e36 models .

316i 318i 318i 318ti 316ti 320i 323i 325i .( i believe maybe the 325i version is sleightly stronger )

only the 328i and 3L m3 use the ZF box , and maybe some NZ new 325i 320i etc
