My Blue 2002 530i Motorsport

Recommended Posts

Hello!

After an aimless Sunday drive today i have ended up with some ok photos of the new car so thought i might as well post em up.

Mods Done:

Tints (by Seth @ CarFolie, recommended!)

Dice Mediabridge Bluetooth iPhone intergration Kit

OEM glovebox flashlight (hardly a mod or worth mentioning but meh)

MTEC v2.1 LED's for factory angel eyes.

9500CI Radar/Laser Defense

To Do list / Possible Future Mods:

Nav/TV Retrofit

Stealth Indicator Bulbs

Most money is likely going to be spent on trying to keep it in the condition its in now.

Looks great as is.

^^^^^^ Ditto Matt - leave as it is.

Great looking car by the way, even better once the nav & camera is done :)

Original post updated with mods list.

Yea i want to keep it looking as original as possible with just a couple of style tweaks, at the moment im working on gathering the parts for the tv/nav retrofit that grant/hotwire has been very helpful with :D

Thanks for the offer Tristan ... might come on a weekend (work 8-430 mon-fri) ... will let you know.

Edit: I can't spell.

Stightly off subject......(nice 5 btw...)

what's the deal with 'stealth' indicator blubs?

I have the same celis head / taillight with factory blubs in them, what do these stealth blubs improve?

Removes the orange tinge through the rear lights. Minor cosmetic but makes a difference.

I see so the blub glass is white rather than orange.

Where do you get these from?

edit: a search has found repco narva blubs

Repco wellington doesn't seem to have any.

Anyone know the part # for front & rear blubs? And what store may still have some? Looks like it maybe a special order unless another store has some.

BMW #no is :47384. I believe it has offset pins. Just look at Fig 4 to see stealth bulb. :)

Edit:http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=15596&st=0 Looks like part no is 47385BL.

I just sandpapered the orange tint off my rear ones with fine ass paper. Probably illegal but I'm fairly sure indicators only have to be amber on the front? Anyway I'll get onto real stealths at some point...

DEFINITELY ILLEGAL - You are NOT allowed white light facing backwards except for reverse lights

Red or amber to rear

Clear or amber to the front

I have heard of people giving orange bulbs a (very) light dusting of silver paint as an alternative of buying the 'stealth' bulbs.

On topic though, car looks great, best color for a E39, just leave it alone and drive it :)

Thanks! Yup definatly want to stay unmolested, only major mod/retrofit will be the TV/NAV and that will all be transplanted from a donor so will look 100% stock.
