IMO no car that is branded Motorsport should have wood bits in it Na the tape deck is where its at. haha Edited January 30, 2011 by Matt45
Tristan 338 Report post Posted January 31, 2011 I think Repco, Glenn Innes has about 10 Narva Phantom bulbs left for the rears. I think they can fit the fronts but I havn't checked. $12.00 each. Best to ring around.

matt45 1 Report post Posted February 9, 2011 The Narva bulbs fit in both the front & rear. Matt, How is the Passport kit over the V1? I need something better for K band....... It just seems to go faster since i polished it...Must be less coefficient drag. Gona go see if i can get some bulbs on monday. For radar i find them pretty similar the v1 has the advantage of being directional. Haven't really had a chance to test out the laser shifters yet. Don't you mean Ka band? K band is only used by the cameras in vans but i have it turned off as pretty much everything else in the world runs on K band so you get heaps of false alerts. sascha 17 Report post Posted February 9, 2011 Just saw this, very nice looking 5! I like how you are keeping it mainly original, or "improved original" Just a question about your radar/laser set up, is the front radar reciever the only radar reciever? Wouldn't you want atleast one rear-facing antenna? Just curious
matt45 1 Report post Posted February 10, 2011 Thanks! Yes it has a single radar 360 receiver in the front, because radar is not line of sight unlike laser it is not such an issue .... although the metal of the car is a barrier against rear radar detection it is compensated a little by the fact that if radar is coming from the rear it will bounce back to you from any objects in front of you. Haven't had a chance to test out the rear detection properly yet but seems ok so far, i would hope if it was a huge issue escort would have done a new model with two receivers (the 9500 has been out quite a while)

DaveO 47 Report post Posted November 18, 2011 what is everyones thoughts on 19" M6 wheels? Also, I love how my car handles and rides because of the M-sport Suspension... How do most people get their E39's lower, but still having the beautiful ride it currently has?

How do most people get their E39's lower, but still having the beautiful ride it currently has? Take this advice from someone in the trade and someone who is currently driving there 19th bmw. The 17" motorsport wheels are all you should have on this. They are staggered fittment. Provide an ultimate ride with 40/45 profile. They have no bump steer and are firm but not hard at standard Motorsport height. I put 285/30r19s an 265/35r19 on the front. Also lowered it. Lasted 3 weeks then put it all back to standard. How do most people get their E39's lower, but still having the beautiful ride it currently has? I had 19" wheels on my M-Sport E39 without lowering, and it didn't look too bad. You need to make sure suspension parts are replaced/checked first, because E39s are definitely sensitive to lowering and/or bigger wheels. Mine needed new front control arm bushes after putting the wheels on, because there was a real shimmy at 100kph. Here is a photo for your reference regarding ride height on factory sport suspension:
