Yikes! My Interiors are Peeling

Recommended Posts

Hi I noticed that that my car interior has a peeling problem,

The plastic under the coating is silvery gray, so it's pretty obvious.

On my car it is coming off the right hand spoke near the point where the rim and spoke meet.

Same problem on the driver side door handle.

I have Google and it seems to be a common issue with the E90 & E92 series.

Has any one else come across this problem.

Have contacted BMW to have look to see if they will repair or replace like overseas.

Fingers Crossed~

Its actually very common and very cheap and easy to fix, just get it taken off and sprayed again. We get it done quite a bit...

That sounds good, "Plan B"

What would the cost be for a job like that?

Would have thought being a $100k car, wouldn't hurt to cast the metal looking bits in real metal as oppose to metal looking plastic. I would gladly pay extra $50 for that being actually metal, should be enough to cover the material?

Happens on all modern vehicles when they near 100,000km.

Best order new parts.

My 05 Vectra did it

05 545i did it

06 Renault is doing it.

Its very common.

Didn't see that. Maybe its age related then? Has happened to all mine 85-100km.

I've got a grooming business, we see it on almost all euros. VW & Audi are the worst for it. If they just coloured the plastic, instead of painting black/grey plastic different colours... there would be no coating to come off.

I would just buy a new piece if you dont want to repaint would be like around $100 or $200 to replace. Im about to replace the one on the E46 soon..

What would you paint it with? I've seen it done with this stuff called Plasti-dip, but I don't like the tacky surface it leaves behind.
