318Touring 40 Report post Posted February 25, 2011 Midas, I supply the oil. Usually waiting for specials at the Warehouse. Just kidding! Jeff Gray for the previously owned 5. DIY for the Compact, I have ramps, jack-stands etc. Easy to do. Oil would be whatever been approved for use in BMWs, and in stock at the local Repco store. Fully synthetic. Armstrong Prestige or more likely Powerhaus for the Porker. Oil supplied, 5W50 Mobil 1.

Apex 693 Report post Posted February 25, 2011 Glenn at botany motorworks is good, expensive but its worth it, I find what you try and save initially you will spend in the long run, better getting it done properly first time. Even if he is grumpy old bastard. Have yet to find a decent Renault specialist.

It's really not that hard to mess up on a RWD SOHC car. just read the guides lots and replace the fking camshaft seal. Cookies seem pretty good for parts, 24bucks for a genuine oil filter, cheaper than Repco, and have anti-drainback where the repco ones don't. rocker gasket, 20 bucks cheaper than appco. Has in the past serviced all my mothers 4 e30's and as a result now gets mine for all related work. +1 My family all use Ken - Bellars Motor Works, dad's e46, mums e34 and both my e30's have had all their work done there.
