Apex 693 Report post Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) Im looking at a E34 540i, have driven it and its all good bar a sticky auto, seems hesitant to change into a higher gear, not ideal in a gas guzzler, not sure if this is the norm but I am factoring it in to the price. My question is how much should I factor in to replace/rebuild the transmission when it dies? Thanks A mechanical warranty will run me $1,500. twisted 45 Report post Posted May 26, 2011 Apex: Yet to do anything about it. Though the intention is to do a manual swap. Had a quote for $1200 for an autobox. Then theres fluid (autobox holds a heap, and it aint cheap). Honestly, you could be looking at 2k before its even in the car.
