Oh and BTW, that isn't the 3l CSL, thats the E21 because the 3 litre CSL didn't have the flared guards at the rare, been in NZ for months!

It's in the window at BMW Headquarters in Mt Wellington, so sweet. One of my favourite racing cars of all time.

It's Definitely a CSL...

Look out for it at your local dealership in August and September as well.

Picture of the actual car, just got taken out of BMW warehouse yesterday. Doesn't have the rear flared guards like the picture above

The actual car has the number 12 on the side...

The car in NZ is a '73, the one Josh posted is a '75, and the one I've posted below is a '76. Racecars evolve. There are plenty of differing styles of arches that were used on the racing CSL's, depending on what class they were in -the massive open rear arches were primarily used in IMSA/Group 2 racing.

Here's a nurburgring 24 class wining car with yet another different style of arches:

I guarantee when you see this car at speed show you'll realise just how wide the rear arches are.

Yes i agree with what your saying, all im saying is the car here isn't the car in the photo, i have already seen the car and the rear arches are flared, but not as much as the picture posted, as the one here is a '73 like you said.

BMW Car Club along side BMW Group NZ have organised for it to stay until end of Jan early Feb for the BMW festival at Hampton Downs, didnt get here in time for the Chris Amon Festival this year, and when you see up close its a whole different kettle of fish, trust me it is awsome...when you take a close look at the roll cage you will say Chris and Hans were nuts to go that fast in this thing...old skool

That's got to be one of the better eras for race cars.

Oh, and I can't resist...

"pretty good stance - nice rake, good stretch at the front, great dish, just about enough poke, but needs more low"

If Anyone wants to build a replica of 1 of these I have a spare LHD shell and all the box flare gaurds are available!! Shell has a bit of rust in the floors but is certainly useable!! it is complete with suspension steering all the glass ect!!

I am immune to the temptation. Currently no garage and the only-partly-assembled 2002 is in storage.... project horizon, distant.

Andy at RaceFX has a widebody CSL in his workshop undergoing an extensive rebuild at the moment. Saw it this week. Looks stunning.
