E34 brake upgrade

Recommended Posts

Pulled trigger on 540i brakes for the wagon, thought I might as well get some braided lines while I'm at it. Who sells a kit for this? Trade me doesn't come up with anything, not that I'd buy from there, but no one is advertising :s surely you can get them? What do the open class guys use?

Also is brake fluid brake fluid? Or are there differences? Recommendations for heavy street/light track use?

Does the fact the car has abs cause problems?

It's a weekend car that gets used spiritedly and doing an engine upgrade soon all going to plan. I'm just learning from my past mistakes and doing that last when the car is ready for it

Thanks, Andy

ahh so you were the one who snapped them up so fast,

I recommend the motul brake fluid, i cannot recall the name, something 5000 or 6000 but its dot5.1 never had a problem with any of the racecars ive dealt with. You can get it at brake and trans in the hutt on downer st.

Abs wont be an issue

Yep haha sorry. You don't need them you already have a 540i :P these should be infinitely better than the standard fare in mine however!

Thanks for your help mate. Don't know of anyone more local though?

Take your old ones to contour brakes they can make some.

Dont forget the exchange rates looking pretty good at the mo.

I got my brake lines local in Auckland, cant remember the place though.

I also suggest Motul 5.1...has served me well!
