Toyota Corolla: No Oil in Oil Filter

Recommended Posts

Was doing the oil change on my old mans 1.3L corolla yesterday. Pulled out the filter expecting oil to drip out everywhere, but only to find no oil / dirt / anything black in there - it looked as if its never been used.

I'm puzzled. Could the oil pump have failed? Car seems to drive ok.

Some cars ie Mazda have a drain back system in there filters, no mess come change time. Toyota could be the same.
