I _think_ the genuine is plastic and will be quite flexible, fibreglass is likely much stiffer and you'll prolly be able to see the fibreglass matting on the back of it.

As for weight, the difference is less than you really need to worry about.

Edit; and the genuine should have factory markings on it.

its plastic, but not really flexible. Havent held a fiberglass replica, but i would guess fiberglass would be lighter. the real ones are heavy for what they are imo

Yeah i was only asking about weight because i have 2 spoilers and they are quite different weights - sounds like the gen one will be heavier which is good news as the lighter one is a bit poked !!

Crap materials in crap product out.

That and glass doesnt stand the test of time .. give it 5-8years and it starts to turns porous. That fiber glass always goes bumpy and warps after time

Try telling that to the millions of boat owners floating around in 30 to 40 year old fibre glass boats.

You are describing the faults of the crap products not the good ones.

How did boats come into the equation ... we are talking about fiber glass bumpers aren't we ?

_every_ glass bumper I have seen on a car starts to dull, need repainting or start to ripple.

Even down to that horrible white e30 325i with m3 clone kit on it ... that was another good example of a vehicle that had a very good job done to it back in the day, but just couldnt handle the daily jandle when if comes to looking 'right' on a street car. In its case the fiberglass needed redoing as it started to delaminate in the inside of the guards.
