KwS 2425 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Been ripping the shifter stuff out of my E36 (with getrag) so i can change the shifter bushes (which didnt appear to even exist). Im at the point where i need to remove the oil seal on the selector shaft. I have tried screw drivers, picks, everything really and it will not come out. The gearbox is still in the car and im reluctant to remove it. The seal is well and truly busted up now, and would piss all the box oil out if i tried to drive it. Im in urgent need of some advice on how to remove this stuck seal! Any ideas? its this seal here
KwS 2425 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 ok, got the seal out. Now ive got an issue, either the shifter is too far back and i cant access 2nd and 4th or if i flip the shifter around it sits to the right and hits the console when i shift to 5th. FML sick of this. thorburn 121 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Is it a factory shifter? If you look in the following link. Is part 4 properly pushed into it's mount on the body? http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=...hg=25&fg=
KwS 2425 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 yeah, turns out the shifter is sitting correctly, but theres a bigger issue.
polley 916 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Part 9 is around the correct way? iirc it can go both ways and may affect shifter position.
thorburn 121 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 It'll touch on the guibo if it isn't bent up. Still the same length though
