*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted November 8, 2011 I would say that if you wanted it done properly by a specialist you would have to pay that person what he or she is asking.... or get it done on the cheap and not get the result further down the track. It gets back to the old saying...you get what you pay for.

wolfman 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2011 $200 at BW Workshop. Generally pretty good except they did miss a bit of rust in the bootlid. But overall I was very impressed.

rusteee 52 Report post Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) Sorry to head off topic a bit, but does anyone know of a reputable BM workshop in the Auckland area that would do a pre-purchase inspection on the weekend? I know AA would but i wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them Cheers Edited November 18, 2011 by rusteee

hybrid 1043 Report post Posted November 18, 2011 Sorry to head off topic a bit, but does anyone know of a reputable BM workshop in the Auckland area that would do a pre-purchase inspection on the weekend? I know AA would but i wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them Cheers AA doesnt do a true pre-purchase inspection. It should, in addtion to the normal vehicle stuff, include a full run sheet of what commonly goes wrong on the car your buying and a full run down of upcoming service costs and repair/replacement parts including a full scan with proper BMW specific software, not just a generic OBDII code scan. Otherwise its pretty much just generic 'warrent' style check. There aren't that many places in auckland that I know of who do it properly. As glenn says, you get what you pay for .. and unfortunately in the case of the AA, then some.
rusteee 52 Report post Posted November 20, 2011 Yeah I thought so. I live out in the sticks so usually the only time to do it is on weekends. But as you say you get what you pay for, so probably worth me taking an afternoon off work to get Botany Motorworx to check out my next car, really don't mind paying the money to get good service. The one I was after sold just before I went to look at it but oh well, I'll just keep looking. Definetly going to get a pre-purchase done on my next car though. Thank you for your help guys!! much appreciated
