sascha 17 Report post Posted November 18, 2011 I'd be keen for some 16x8 ~10p front and 16x9 ~15p rears, or something thereabouts. (in 4x100) Did you happen to get a quote for full custom made wheels? Was this quote from Steel surgeon?
max 27 Report post Posted November 18, 2011 I went to Elite Wheel Co in Chch today to see what's up. $120 per wheel widened, bored to correct centre and offset corrected to fit the width of 8-8.5" that I wanted. That's with an existing wheel to start with, probably a BMW mini 15" or Suzuki swift 15" Word is he'll shave the price with multiple wheel sets wanted. slowe30 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2011 hows this idea comming along? anyone planning on doing it anytime soon? id be keen on some 16" rims at like 8" front 9" rears. if anyone wants 15" steelies i can get swift ones
max 27 Report post Posted November 22, 2011 I'm probably looking at getting this going in the new year, the car needs some low before it'll pull these off! Could be keen on those Swift steels, how much for a set? Also, I think the new VW beetles came out with 16" stock steelies.
zenetti 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2011 Another option is new mini steelies which are 15 inch and 4 x 100, unsure on the offset, probably have to add spacers to clear calipers on the inside then just get them widened. Just to add to this for you guys.. I think your best bet will be to look for new Mini steelies as they have the correct centre bore. Offset will not matter as when the wheels are widened they will pull the centres out first. When they are rewelded to the outer rings you can specify any offset you want. While I was over in China this is exactly what they were doing at a steel wheel factory I visited. They made the centres and rings separately and then you could specify any offset you liked. Before anyone asks the minimum order qty is 200 pces per size and stud pattern so a group buy is unlikely
MattP287 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2011 Hey Guys, Yup my quote was from steel surgeons. I'm on the hunt for 16" 4x100 rims now and will look at doing this pretty much right away. They weren’t really that interested in doing a group deal......... Thanks

sascha 17 Report post Posted November 27, 2011 Called the Steel Surgeon and he said for a 16x8/9ish made from scratch it'd be about $150 a wheel, but that would be with the 'flat' face. He can't get 16" D-windows (not sure if they even exist, he sort of laughed at me when I suggested it). I emailed him to arrange details, but haven't heard back
