Beeker2 69 Report post Posted February 6, 2016 Have talked to a few people!!, i will be keeping the standard tank . ( nice and low ,forward of the diff , ) and plastic. .......I always looked at petrol tanks in the back as pendulms as you go around corners or a bomb if you run into the rear. those fuel cells are very nice A Check out my E36 M3 build and the AP front brakes i used. Not to mention the Z3 steering rack
richard 384 Report post Posted February 6, 2016 I have the z3 steering rack in, I got the brakes second hand cheap never used. I've read your project pages , I've also removed the abs system from the car. Who did your rollcage.

I've read your project pages , I've also removed the abs system from the car. Who did your rollcage. Its a T45 cage from custom cages UK (plus some extra bars), installed by Dan Slater. Re brakes. I used on the front an Essex Racing (big AP racing disti in the USA) E36/E46 race kit. It used proper AP race calipers (no boots, piston springs etc) and 32mm thick rotor on custom hats. Its way beefier than the AP Fast Road Kit. I did use their std fast road kit on the back thou.
richard 384 Report post Posted February 6, 2016 I've asked Dan, too busy at the moment. Brakes are 355x32 6 pots wilwoods front and rear , will be OK for what I need. This car is not for the road, track only.

You probbaly wont have to duct them either, my heat paint tests at puke' confimred that for my car
richard 384 Report post Posted February 7, 2016 Todays mission after lunch was to remove the fuel tank clean and replace. But before I reinstall it I was thinking of future proofing the car by reinforcing plates where the sub frame and rear trailing arm sit. There are kits you can buy cut to size, just weld in place. What do you guys think. Pics....

richard 384 Report post Posted February 11, 2016 more bling on the doorstep. Pavlov Racing control arms are fabricated from thin wall 4130 chromoly steel. These arms are 100% TIG welded and fully argon backpurged. They are then stress relieved, heat treated, and powder coated. These arms are available in stock length +10mm and +16mm longer per side for increased track width. Standard inventory is 10mm wider track width. These arms weigh 3.8lbs, The arms use high misalignment oversized bearings which allow for increased suspension travel without bearing binding. The arms also allow for bearings to be replaced using a simple press in press out method and replacement parts are easily available. Simply pop out the snap ring and press the old bearing out and the new one in. and Front Control Arm Rear Brackets from AKG these are adjustable

richard 384 Report post Posted February 14, 2016 (edited) thanks Ash, Progress to date. Front brakes fitted , very cool. wheels are 18x8.5 with et40 ( I may not use these wheels but something close) 17.5 mm spacers Everything misses with good clearance. Question.......... How far can you roll guards before A) they look stupid, and are not practicable and I need to look at flares ( wheels are 13mm past guards ). Side note, I find working on cars therapeutical, there's something about pulling it apart and putting it back together that's relaxing, don't know if I could do it for a living. Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted February 26, 2016 I have looked into fitting style 66 wheels to my E36 - 17x8 ET20 front & 17x9 ET23ish rear running 225/45 & 255/40 respectively. Fronts will work ok with a little massaging but the rears are much more problematic. I concluded the only way to be satisfied around clearance was to start cutting and welding which is way more effort than I could be bothered with simply for aesthetics. Those Willwoods look freakin awesome, btw!!
richard 384 Report post Posted February 28, 2016 todays effort was cleaning off underseal and paint ready for welding reinforcing plates next weekend. Got a mate of a mate ( I'm not holding my breath ).but I gota get it done as the roll cage is booked for next month. not the most glamorous side of motorsport, covered dust and sh*t
richard 384 Report post Posted February 28, 2016 Ahmed, My guess is I have a date with a grinder and the guards, ...... would love to push for 18x10 wheels on the back.... more rubber, = wider track width. In my mind anyways.
