dreadful1 7 Report post Posted June 8, 2012 Hey all, Just came across the problem recently in the e46: When I go to turn on the car, I will turn it through either the 1st or 2nd ignition setting and the car would flash completely off then sometimes it turns right back on and I can start the car but sometimes it will go through the 1st setting and turn completely off like there is no power at all then about 1 minute later I can start it again... It's quite annoying how it resets all my clock times and my trip meter.. Is it my battery is going dead? Yongxi

hybrid 1044 Report post Posted June 8, 2012 Agreed, Battery terminals however the battery maybe end of life. Its an OEM battery and I replaced it with a second hand one 4 years ago. Cold weather brings out the gremlins in batteries.

Cold weather brings out the gremlins in batteries. i learnt the hard way with my e34 not to piss around with batteries....cough up for a big bugger equivalent to the original,eg a hella I ended up getting a din 90.....its about twice the size of a normal car battery ,slightly bigger than the 65 mine had in it and worth its weight in gold at the end of a long cold winters day when i had left the parking lights on ALL DAY
