top strut mount/ bump stops/ gators

Recommended Posts

Replaced the top strut mounts, bump stops and rubber protectors this afternoon on the front suspension. Does any one have an easy way of stopping the strut rod from retracting down wards making it difficult to attach the top strut nut thanks.

Quite the contrary andy.. Op, hold strut inner carefully with rag and multigrips, do not mark it..

if you have bump stops, would it actually matter if you mark the upper part of the rod, as it wont be in contact with the shock seal?

found with the shock still extended in the spring you can tigten a small hose clamp around the shock shaft

this stops it retracting and because it shres the load doesnt mark the metal

this was handy when changing springs etc
