the bolts for the caliper carrier are different lengths apart

where did you find the brembo brakes ? they weren't standard in the E38

yes some of the later e38 728i 730i 735i etc came with 4 pot piston brembo calipers.

marty (bm weapon ) may still have some

maybe you could fit the hub carrier from e38 to a e39 strut??

may work ?? might have to be v8 e39 type though??

Bit of a waste of time IMO - the stock brakes are fairly good. And if you're car is an M5 you obviously get the special BMW M division brakes.

I would just be more concerned with my OEM brakes being well maintained.
