Driveshaft Extention

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Just wanted to ask if any one had experience in extending there drive shafts and what sort of cost was involved.

I have a 1991 E34 and i'm currently doing a Auto to Manual conversion on it, the Ds will need to be extended 150mm. What cost should i expect to see? It will most definitely need a new flange as well. Could some one please list an approx cost?

Its a M50 and im fitting a Getrag250 behind it.

Cheers

yup about $300 ,at driveshaft specialists in east tamaki

and thats a cut , weld in new tube , fit yoke , balance etc.

costs more if you have to service or replace universal , hanger bearings or cv joints etc

I went to Beatty's Driveshaft Centre for my custom driveshaft.. $650, a touch pricey but they cut off the original front shaft section, replaced it with a longer tube section welding it to a Toyota input yoke.. so a fair bit of work and they had to get it balanced as well.

I imagine a job like yours would be more around the cost of what Brent mentioned.

Thanks guys, conversion done. Ended up costing me $400 for a 160mm extension on the gearbox end of my e36 drive shaft I used.

Thanks everyone for the help, much appreciated :).
