liyi_92 37 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 CAR DOES NOT START AT ALL! I drove home from uni, made something to eat and had a rest. (3:10pm) Jumped into car to go to work and car wouldn't start (4.30pm) Turning the key does nothing at all. I am sure its not the battery as that was replaced last year and there is no *tick tick tick* sound like a dying dead battery would sound. No lights come onto dash regardless of key position. No crank sound. Any points on what I could check on first? To make it worse its parked on road and I can't really move my car. Problems before this incident: Slight misfire Oil leak Extended crank times especially long when engine is warm

BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 bad battery terminal conections?? trying pushing on them , tightening up etc. long crank times when warm could be cam sensor on its way out. see if it will jump start from another car etc
liyi_92 37 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 Could this be a failed alternator?
hotwire 352 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 Check the battery voltage. Checked a couple of weeks ago means nothing now. Won't necessarily make the usual click noise if flat. If you have no way of checking things (sounds like you are guessing)- get someone (an auto sparky) out to the car
liyi_92 37 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 will do. just got home from work, tried tp start it up again. electrics work again until i need to crank it. By that I mean position 1 & 2 brings up all dash lights and tv aircon works. Maybe battery has problem chargong. Will hopefully get it looked at tomorrow. Does AA do these checks? liyi_92 37 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 I just tried to jumpstart using the Subie but no luck. Let it idle for around 3 minutes before trying to crank and I get a slow tick tick tick
