You need 2.5 pistons, since you have the correct rods I'm sure you can work a deal ;)

2.5 pistons will not fit the m20b20

m20b20 has a 731 head , where as the 2.5 is 885

yes rods correct

Hey sorry if these are dumb questions

What sort of HP gains are we talking about? Do you 'lose' anything as a result (e.g. torque)?

I read somewhere that the crank needs to have some machining done for a belt or something if going into a M20... Has the crank in your sale been altered?

So to fit I'm thinking:

the engine needs to come out and disassembled

bottom end bit's swap and assume new rings?

Head skim and new gaskets

Maybe cambelt and tensioner

engine back in and new fluids

then ecu remap required?

Sorry for all that... Been thinking for a while now a little more power would be great and $350 is a good price from what I've seen but I suspect I'd be looking at the wrong end of and additional $1k for tuning, additional parts and machining on top right?

You need a "spacer" machined up as the cranks diameter is smaller at the seal.

It's just a dounut really. There are exact specs if said dounut out there..

I've read that there are 2 types of m20 pistons you can use though, the earlier type needs a bit if work as it doesn't quite clear the crank.

I've got a 2.8 assembly together and needed the spacer on top on new rods

Would be safe to get new bearings, rings and seals.

Can be done from underneath too, don't have to remove engine.

Tune would be good but Ray told me you can run on 98 octane without.

I got 170HP at the wheels on Gavins dyno, cant remember what the torque number was. That was with a remap from Gavin and headers, cold air box etc.

I did new everything in the bottom end while it was out and left the top end stock (including cams)
