Unsure on what diff i need

Hey, I'm just wondering what differential I'l need for my 320i 88'. My e30 has a m30b35 under the hood. I wanna get a open diff and weld it up for track days, what do you guys suggest i should use? and what housing size would it be small or medium? 3.64 to 4.1 diffs would work well right?

for starters what gearbox are you running in it ??

me mate uses a 3.73 in his M535i e28 with the overdrive getrag 260 box

i use a 3.91 in my e28 m5 with the same gearbox.

but being a lighter car you could stay with a 3.64 etc

but if you are using the dog leg close ratio box then a different diff woul dbe needed.

3.64 is too short even for the 2.5L engine for which it was intended. You need to load the 3.5L up, 3.45 or lower if you can find it.
