Mongoose100 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2014 Hi all, Hoping that someone can give me a definite answer here... I currently have the Jap navigation system in the car (2001 E39) and want to go back to the 'Business' system (or whatever it's called). Is it a simple plug and play or more involved? hotwire 352 Report post Posted April 12, 2014 Hi, No it's not plug & play to reverse. The monitor equipped car has different wiring plugs to the monitor than what the standard in dash radio has. Being that it has a monitor, puts all the modules (radio, TV etc) into the rear of the vehicle. You would need to run a radio loom from front to rear of vehicle. A bit of a backward step considering the potential of getting current system to run NZ compatible, along with reverse camera etc options
Mongoose100 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2014 Bugger. Have band expander but sounds like crap as soon as you get outta town and I'm too early for the world mode radio. What are my options (in layman's terms please) of eliminating the expander and having an input to play mp3's from my phone? Sorry for the complete naivety of my knowledge with these

Neal 545 Report post Posted April 14, 2014 What's the issue with the current unit ? If it's a 2001 you should be able to change the language to English and the Tuner to Oceania and remove the band expander. http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/6327-how-to-reprogram-jap-bmw-radio-to-nz-frequencies/ For BT stick with the Board and get a Dension BT lite gateway. It connects in line with your CD stacker and gives usb , 3.5mm and BT streaming. streaming. Comes with Mic so will also do hands free with control via Boardmonitor. http://www.dension.com/product/gateway-lite-bt-gbl3xxx Needs to be ordered with optional CD stacker retention kit. Language is English, have tried several times and it won't give me a menu to change. Thought pre 09/01 didn't have that option?
