natshaw 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 My E38 has a couple of odd symptoms, might be related: A a hard, shuddering bounce sometimes, usually from rear left, but can be hard to tell. Drive round a corner, on a bumpy road surface and it happens every time. Car is lop-sided. Front-right is lower than front-left. Am thinking maybe gas accumulators? Any tips or experience in this areas appreciated!

yng_750 247 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 I had quite abit of play in my lower arm bushing on the back of my 740i. More the front bush on that arm. Though i never got those issues. Just more tyre wear

Eagle 1676 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Id be surprised if it has pressure accumulators being a non iL. Does it using ATF or CHS11 for power steering?

Well I haven't actually looked, shows it on my parts diagram. Mine is ex Japan, with EDC. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=GF82&mospid=47517&btnr=33_0454&hg=33&fg=
Eagle 1676 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Yeah EDC is a different system. Id be checking what you actually have exactly to start with. Does the EDC still function? it may of possibly been replaced. Have you actually measured the heights?
kulgan 1042 Report post Posted May 23, 2014 I'd be checking the springs. Possibly one broken somewhere. If your EDC shocks are had it your suspension will go harder but wont make the car lop sided unless they've leaked all thier fluids out which you should be able to see down the side of the shocks. Have you actually measured the heights? EDC works, for what it's worth. Haven't measured heights.
timetodrive 6 Report post Posted May 27, 2014 ATF Would think it is a non- self levelling as they run on chs11, easiest way would be to look under the rear and see if it has the regulator valve to control the height. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n89/mojocoggo/my_e38/diagrams/DSC_5095.jpg I would concur with the above and say it is a broken spring or similar.
