Evo30 6 Report post Posted May 23, 2014 Hi. Removed this diff from donor e30 which had a Toyota 1.8 turb. The car shell is originally a 320i but it seems have had a pretty modified history. Not sure if this was the standard diff or replaced. Any help appreciated cheers
E30 325i Rag-Top 2957 Report post Posted May 23, 2014 There should be a small silver tag on the back cover, held on by one of the bolts. Numbers on that will tell you what ratio it is. Usually covered in oil and crap, so needing a clean before you can read what it says!
Eagle 1662 Report post Posted May 23, 2014 Std E30 small or medium case diff. 6 bolts on rear=small, 8=medium
Evo30 6 Report post Posted May 23, 2014 How can I tell what ratio? Or would I have to remove the back cover? Tags I can see are: 1 210/23 W / 03
Evo30 6 Report post Posted May 23, 2014 Couldn't find the small silver tag on the diff. I did find another stamp closer to the hub. 1210
Eagle 1662 Report post Posted May 23, 2014 Possibly a 4.21 then. Easy to rotate it and count it out.
