DRIFDN 1 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) E30 Hey guys this is my e30. I know it's a fairly sensitive topic but I've recently done a sr20det conversion on her. So I went in for a cert check on Friday and unfortunately it's sitting a tad low in the front for their liking so rather than buying a new set of springs I've decided to bite the bullet and go to adjustable suspension! Now I know BC gold are great I've run them in many of my vehicles the problem I had with my e46 though is I could never get it sitting low enough in the back and I really don't want this problem with the e30. A lot of you are probably thinking it's too low as it is and should be raised and that's fine but I built it to suit my taste not yours Edited October 5, 2014 by DRIFDN
HaNs 226 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 A coil over shock (rather then spring separate) will allow you to go lower, i can do a set of super low Yellow Speed coil overs that will get you pretty low!
DRIFDN 1 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 I did ask the certifier about that for the back and he said that he can only certify them if the run separate spring and shock like factory

DRIFDN 1 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 Apparently the towers aren't strong enough to support all the weight because they weren't built for that

DRIFDN 1 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 And he is right. If you want to go that way they need to be reinforcedI would rather go the easy way and just run it in the factory set up.. As long as it sits at the same hight it does now that is

polley 916 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 Quite stiff in the back because of the shorter springs, dampers in the rear wound down soft to help traction. Overall the car is quite rigid but haven't noticed any bounce, but I don't drive it around town either.

I will only really use mine in the weekends so being quite rigid has got to be better than what I have to deal with at the moment. I often hit bump stops
polley 916 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 Trying to get low in the rear with the standard setup you will always have that issue. Your springs can only be so short until there is no room left for travel
Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted October 5, 2014 The back of the race car has adjustable spring perches still in the trailing arm and it's wound almost right to the top and it's lower than your car is. Can find the spring rates if you want. It rides hard as sh*t but it doesn't get driven on the road, well it hardly gets driven at all to be fair. Ha. That would be awesome if you could let me know spring rate etc
Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted October 7, 2014 Koni shocks an eibach springs, shocks are valved to match spring rate.
brockie123 31 Report post Posted October 7, 2014 i'm running BC golds and i'm about as low as you are in that pic. It's wound all the way down but you can still go lower by removing the rear spring adjuster all together. but i like the height it's at at the moment. DRIFDN 1 Report post Posted October 22, 2014 So I decided to go with BC gold's. Have the back completely down and removed the spring adjuster completely and it's still around 15-20mm higher than it was. I can't complain though, no more hitting bump stops and uncomfortable rides. Hopefully it Settles another 10mm and then I'll be a happy man
