Mountain Bikers

Recommended Posts

Well I was just wondering who are the MTBers on Bimmersport, Random, I know.

Whats your bike ... favourite track .. do you race etc.

I'mm looking to upgrade to a '06 Specialized Hardrock Comp or Pro, But I guess I'll have to get a car first <_< So has anyone dealt with Specialized/have one? What are the like?

used to be hardout, when i was at school. got GT road and mountain bikes. the things are ridiculously expensive when you look at what your getting compared to cars.

specializeds were cool...dunno much about the newer stuff, but it was the 96 catalog that got me riding :D

I ride a specialized Epic - much better than the bike it replaced (after that was stolen :rambo: )

Don't ride as much as I'd like - always find other things to do. Having said that, got down to do the 42nd traverse, fishers track and craters of the moon at the weekend (all Taupo/national park region), which was good.

Browns - Yeah they stock Specialized :)

Last weekend I did the Coastal Classic (Chris you might of done that when you were in Dunedin) and my school team got 2nd out of 7 teams and I placed 1st U16 female.

So do you guys think I should get a car first?

I'm the owner of one very well used full suspension GT puppy

Ride Makara peak in Welly and Rimutaka incline

I'm my own worst enemy on the road, I own it when on my bike

Kinda stopped after I owned my shoulder - no real reason I can't get our there again now. Used to do it to a lesser degree competing at school with gus.

Mainly ride downhill around the local tracks - don't do much riding in winter but the second summer comes along..... B)

Have a Keewee stealth, and an Avanti Hotdog - one bike out of the two is usually working...

I ride an old ('99?) Specialized FSR full suspension. Not much since I came off, got the bars in my ribs and my thumb bent back to my wrist though. It's a great bike, but it's no car. . . .

Yeah I'm not sure about a car first..

Although today I went on a MTB hunt and came up with 2 for $1000. What do you guys think? I have posted on MTB.CO.NZ http://www.mountainbike.co.nz/forum/read.p...7&i=9184&t=9184 and people are basically saying RST forks are rubbish, and go with the Scott.

i have a mtb and a road bike, havent ridden much lately tho....1000 is the minimum if you want a new bike to work and last OFF ROAD.Its much better value if you buy second hand, but beware...remember there aint nothing so unpopular as last years mtb = good value.See if you can get the top of the line frame with middle of the road components.

this makes it wortwhile to upgrade components, dont buy the top of the range "cheap " frame ,you may find there no suspension upgrades(if you go that way) later

My mate has a road bike and a mtb..both of which the frames alone are worth? more than some E30,s

go second hand.....resale on mtb's is sh*t, use that to your advantage. they a good way to start learning how to work on stuff (how i got into e30's!)

i would go the advanti over those two as well

Picking up the Scott most likely on Saturday.

Decided against the Avanti because of the unknown hydros and the RST fork.
