I3

Recommended Posts

I got taken for a ride in an i3 this morning, very impressed! So quiet, instant torque , 0-70 faster than a stock 335i. Not the best looker but i really liked the interior.

Saw one parked the other day that had it's front wheels at full lock. That front wheel is laughably skinny, but the bits and bobs behind the wheel ( arms, hub etc ) looked almost pornographic.

Laughably skinny yes but surprisingly grippy. Obvioulsy made for the limits of the car and no more. I would still have 275s all around

Yeah, the acceleration due to the torque of the electric motor is quite impressive, and certainly not what I expected from an "electric vehicle" expecting it to be more like the old electric milk-floats we used to have in the UK. It has certainly surprised a number of people.

Full lock is also impressive, with an incredibly tight turning circle. The bits and bobs behind the wheel are beefier than normal due to the additional re-generative braking components, when you get good at it, you can drive without ever having to touch the brake pedal and get much better range.

I think they were designed, to deliberately look "different" which may explain some of the styling.

the electric/trolley buses here in Wellington have pretty surprising amounts of torque too. Definitely throw you towards the back of the bus if you've got an inconsiderate driver who doesn't wait for you to sit down!!

I can imagine the i3 being so much smaller would be impressive

Still a buttload better looking than a prius!

An added bonus is you wouldn't feel like killing yourself everytime you drive the i3.
