BreakMyWindow 1874 Report post Posted February 10, 2015 The alternator in my old 540i which now belongs to a mate is getting a bit noisy. Anyone know an outfit in Auckland that could do a service on it? This is the water-cooled unit so will need the seal, and probably a good idea to replace the regulator also. westy 614 Report post Posted February 11, 2015 I bought a kit like http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008J7QL3G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Was easy enough to fit, couple hours odd. Bearings avaliable locally but not the regs or rectifiers as far as I know. He probably wants to get onto it pretty quick. When the bearings in mine seized it took out the tensioners and the power steer pump.
