Michael. 2313 Report post Posted July 21, 2015 My friend just bought a very lovely 530i tonight in excellent overall condition. Has a few niggles here, one of which is a rattling adjuster unit flap / DISA component on the intake. What is the best method to sort this unit, are parts avaliable or does it mean a whole new unit from BMW?

Allanw 1071 Report post Posted July 21, 2015 There is a place that does rebuild kits, in aluminium. Uncle Google knows them. I can't remember the names at all. They aren't cheap, and you don't get a new diaphragm. Repalcement is easier, and it''ll probably last at least as long as the original.

Yuen 16 Report post Posted July 22, 2015 I got one for the E39 530 from here. http://www.i6automotive.co.uk/mw-disa-valve-intake-adjuster-unit-aluminium-repair-kit-3-0-only/ Happy with the quality and came with everything needed.
wtbdeath 4 Report post Posted July 22, 2015 it is repairable but I wouldn't recommend it as the vacuum vavle may also leak, which repair kit doesn't address. Better to just get a new unit. Ebay is a good place to start.
Michael. 2313 Report post Posted July 22, 2015 Don't know why I bother at times in here Sorry. Busy day at work and didn't have time to follow up. Ordered a flap kit from Ebay, $99 nzd delivered, should do the trick. My friend with the car didn't see the point of buying a whole new unit.
