E36 Window Problems

Recommended Posts

Hey

My dad has a 320i 1993 E36 Bmw

The problem is that the back windows can only be put down with the controls accesiable by the driver and front passenger..

They back windows even though there is buttons for the windows in the backseat they do no work

Just wondering is there a lock or something ?

Maybe fuse ?

Cheers

there is a switch that disables the rear windows to stop kids mucking around with them. I don't know where it is in the e36 as I am not familiar with them but it is probably in amongst the window switches on the centre consol like with the e34's..

have arrowed the switch in yellow in the pic.

umm they are around the auot gear shift

there is 4 window switches 2 on each side and 1 button looks like a lock... but that doesnt work cuz you can still put down the 2 front windows... maybe that fuse has blown?

If there was a blown fuse, the rear side windows would not operate at all. It sounds to me as though the lock switch has failed?

You can remove the switch and check the connections...

May I suggest you bookmark this page - I think you'll get a lot from it:
