S54 VS @2jz

Plenty of engine's out there that will make decent power with a turbo off the side, reliably too. At least the fanboism makes it easy to spot the usual RFB retards and sh*t talkers.

As good as N55s are on paper, are they as strong and tough long term? Don't they have plenty of plastic manifold components that need to be ditched to hold decent boost levels?

BMWs plastic / seal track record would be my worry if one was to enjoy a reliable setup.

One tends to assume that if big numbers are being chased the builder would probably opt for aftermarket intakes, remote oil coolers / dry sump setups, beefier gaskets, ARP head studs etc etc etc...

One thing that I'd like to know is would the dual Vanos have any positive / measurable effect with an S54 once a turbo gets added to the equation?

There is already a massive N54/55 following for aftermarket bolt ons. The US has gone nuts. Thats on the stock ECU and stock everything. As with any big numbers build you need to spend money on the other things EG plenium / intake which in most cases anyways you get fabricated.
