WTB M20B25 engine & gearbox

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a full 325i E30 engine (M20B25) with (preferred manual) gearbox. I would really like to have the M20B27 (325iS) or M30B32 (333i) engine, but I don't fancy my chances of finding one in NZ.

I'm in Wellington.

Please let me know what you have, and price.

What engine do you have currently? As all m20 gearboxes are interchangeable.

A factory BMW (ie not alpina etc) m20b27 is a low revving economy engine and needs a head swap at a minimum to make power.

You could look for an m30b35 as it's better than a b33 and a more worthwhile swap.

 

EDIT: you can't use an m20 gearbox on an m30

M20b25 (or b27 with 885 head) will be the easiest swap. Converting to manual is easy with the engine out.

M30 will be a more difficult swap, but is well documented. M30 manual boxes are harder to find.

 

Also keep in mind upgrading your brakes and suspension at the same time to match the increase in power (and weight if m30)

Were you able to find a full manual gearbox for my 89' E30 320i sedan? I have now bought an M20B25 engine, and would love to get a manual gearbox installed with the new engine. Thanks.
