325_driver 422 Report post Posted September 20, 2017 Let there be rust! I see a prang fix with a botch up job of sealing the light. Lucky I did this because another year or so and that surface would have been toast Surface fine underneath once I wire brushed my way through
325_driver 422 Report post Posted September 21, 2017 Still a bit of surface work to do on that corner panel. Looks like there are a few dents and sh*t bog work. Man watch out for crap paint jobs when you buy vehicles

325_driver 422 Report post Posted September 22, 2017 I used to do heaps of it ages ago. It's definitely a game of patience and taking your time and making sure the right tools for the job, right adhesion products on the right surfaces also pays off in the long run. Been a pain in the ass ended up cracking the bumper because some one before i got the car did a crap repair on the bumper and ended up cracking it. Running it pretty close to the wire getting it painted this weekend. Lol have an open home on the property tomorrow so have to get this work in progress on the road. Fun fun

Gabe79 410 Report post Posted September 22, 2017 Just now, 325_driver said: Mate so much sanding done in the dark to beat the weather and the clock I've done my share of car work between 10pm and 1am. In my case it's to coincide with kids being asleep and not needing me. I am just too tired at night for that right now. I hope to have time before they turn 18! 325_driver 422 Report post Posted September 23, 2017 (edited) Should be some photos coming in the next few days Base coat had a reaction with something on one of the pillars somewhere, Have no idea what it was! Had sanded everything right back nicely, maybe some etch primer from a previous spray was hovering round. So small bit of re-do to do, Other than that everything looking sweet! 325_driver 422 Report post Posted September 24, 2017 Had to take back pillars to metal! Paint flared up on some weird solvent under there some where a repair job before I purchased the car. Have no idea what it was. If I were to do this again in the future i think all panels to bare metal would have saved some serious time in the long run. But goodbye Sunday!

Lucan 196 Report post Posted September 24, 2017 (edited) Nice job, how long did you wait between clear coats? I always end up with a rough finish and need to do a lot of rubbing/cutting when I do touch ups Edited September 24, 2017 by Lucan
325_driver 422 Report post Posted September 24, 2017 Hmm probably 10 or so minutes before going back over. I kept it pretty dusty at first and then did a final wet coat at the end to get it nice and glassy. Quite interesting ... Bonnet + rear end of car only took like under 1 litre of paint + 1litre of thinners. And clear 1 litre / 500ml hardner and some thinners. Don't remember the paint going on that well in the past. I have a bit of rubbing and buffing to do one side. Have 1 run but other than that I'm stoked. Tempted to do rest of car because I have another entire litre of paint left and then some!
