Smackiee 15 Report post Posted June 7, 2018 Hey guys, thought I would introduce myself being new to the page. (Thanks for taking me in) Recently got myself my very first non-jap car which is a 2009 BMW 335i E90! As far as I can see, it is bone stock but I am not 100% in the know of these cars. (Reason why I am trying to join as many groups as I can) First 'mod' is changing the paddle shift to have downshift 'pull' on the left hand side. Much better! 10 minute job. To do list (near future): Change out Rim/tyres. XHP gearbox flash Change angel eyes to white from yellow MHD Icarly for coding To do list (Future) Downpipes Chargepipe Exhaust Twin filters more to add Here are some photos to end off this long post! Looking forward to meeting people in Auckland!
qube 3570 Report post Posted June 7, 2018 looks like a very tidy LCI sedan with sunroof too! I think a debadge of the rear would tidy it up a bit since you got a nice spoiler on it so the badges create a messy look. what did you have in mind for new wheels? Also be sure you check waterpump, hpfp, all fluids and filters, maybe walnut blast/carbon clean up before you undertake all the popular power mods. reliability is important before you do all the tuning! M3AN 4016 Report post Posted June 7, 2018 Good stuff and welcome! How is the downshift from the factory?

How is the downshift from the factory? you push the paddes away from you with your thumbs to downshift and pull towards you with the other 4 fingers to upshift The new arrangement is left paddle pull for down and right paddle pull for up

And either paddle is up (pull) or down (push)??? SMH.
qube 3570 Report post Posted June 7, 2018 I dont think its dumb. I prefer the old set up personally. What if I want to eat a burger with 1 hand or sip my latte but still use manual shift to blip my car next to hondas? But seriously, the old set up is not bad I reckon and it can be more useful for the lazy driver (me) Traditional drivers who like to drive both hands on the steering wheel would enjoy the left - right + setup more convenient
Smackiee 15 Report post Posted June 7, 2018 Thank you for your suggestions! I am a person who does not really like the de-badge look to be honest haha. Rims, have not really looked at different styles but the current ones are just not doing it for me. In regards to maintance! First thing I will be doing. Still a while away from the major stuff but I will be prepared. Currently 34000kms on the clock. I have paddles set up left paddle Pull - Downshift and Push for Upshift, right paddle has not changed Pull - Upshift and Push for Downshift. So from what qube is saying, I can still drive with one hand and change through the gears with the one paddle.
qube 3570 Report post Posted June 7, 2018 ahh that is not a bad idea so just flip the left side only so you can just pull the left for - and pull the right for + like the newer cars but still push down with right hand thumb for - !
Smackiee 15 Report post Posted June 7, 2018 Exactly QUBE, so both paddles still fully usable! Just left flipped hehe
TermiPeteNZ 1319 Report post Posted June 11, 2018 Nice vehicle Paul and welcome! I'm not into de-badging either … implies you haven't something to be embarrassed about
