m325i 709 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 Wicked mod. I thought it would be good, but its great. I got the schnitzer replica linkage, with the standard shift lever. Changes are like 'one click up' for 1st, 'one click down' for 2nd. Tight and a bit notchy (i like that). Fully recomended. :thumb:
Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 21, 2006 What kit is this? Where is the reduction in throw located? Price? Pics?
petone 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 how much you pay for that? Any idea on how it compares to the lengths of the other ones available? ie z3, z4 etc?
Gus 5 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 AFAIK, should be the same as my z3 m coupe one. $140 from stealer. Nick, where did you get it? Bavarian?
m325i 709 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 Got it at Barvarian. My bushes were all shot so it wasnt much for the upgrade. The linkage thing is like $60 i think. What kit is this? Where is the reduction in throw located? Price? Pics? From what i understand its just a little piece that goes between the lever and the bit that the lever usually attatches to. Its a copy of the schnitzer one i was told. Just a piece of aluminium. The lever is the same length, which is sweet because IMO higher up is better. Any idea on how it compares to the lengths of the other ones available? ie z3, z4 etc?i asked about that, but didnt really understand the answer. Its close to perfect. i.e.i dont see how you could make it better. You wouldnt want it 'shorter', (its like one click into gear).
Gus 5 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 its hard to describe, basically just a chunk of aluminium machined to fit into the e30 shift lever bottom and selector rod...just lengthens the length below the fulcrum. nice and simple, and works good. copy of the one gerry had on his old e36 318is. Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 22, 2006 Got it at Barvarian. My bushes were all shot so it wasnt much for the upgrade. I hear that, mine too. Do the kits online come with all the bushing required?
m325i 709 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 i dunno. i doubt it. i assume that they got a 'mate' to machine up some copies of the schnitzer one. Its just the standard bushings as far as i'm aware. (you could 'play' witht the stick as if it was in neutral, when in gear.) Why stress with the hassel of doing it yourself? Satisfaction buzz, sure. I prefer to use experts, that's what they are for. Do the kits online come with all the bushing required? I think he means Bavarian motors on the shore - they have made a few.I personally hate them - but thats just me. I like a long shifter through (on the race car at least - would probably rock one on my daily driver)
