ctho 53 Report post Posted August 22, 2019 Hi all, I recently bought a white 1989 320i touring (automatic) and would love some ideas on what to do with it - was thinking a manual swap and maybe an engine swap (m52?) Any advice on what route to go down/approximate costs would be much appreciated. Current engine only has 120xxx kms on it and has been well taken care of by the looks of it. Olaf 3317 Report post Posted August 22, 2019 Looks very tidy! How about getting it up to snuff? Your rear subframe rubbers are now 30 years old (unless they've been replaced); similarly, fuel hoses, ball joints, diff mount, gearbox mounts, engine mounts are all 30 years old. You'd be surprised what going through and replacing them with new OEM or Genuine parts will do for your ride and handling. While you get to know the car, you can figure out what you want to do with it. You need a lower lip on the valence. Reminds me of my old one, I had a 1989 325i Touring in Alpinweiss with shadowline trim, sunroof, and factory manual box.
E30 325i Rag-Top 2957 Report post Posted August 22, 2019 Ideal sleeper - something potent under the bonnet, S52 or S54 maybe plus an LSD? Then stock on the outside, keep 320i badge.

I agree with sorting all this first, will give it a good refresh of the basics and will be on the look out for a lower lip. 6 minutes ago, E30 325i Rag-Top said: Ideal sleeper - something potent under the bonnet, S52 or S54 maybe plus an LSD? May have a talk to Ray about it
