New tyres....

Recommended Posts

I need four new tyres for my car, it's got the standard 15" basketweaves.

I want to get some good performance directional tyres.

At the moment it has 205/55's on it, so I went to get some quotes for the same size tyre. The guy in the first tyre shop said I had the wrong sized tyres and that I actually needed 195/65's.

Then I went to a different shop and the guy there said I needed 205/65's but they had no directional tyres in that size.

So can some one here tell me the correct size tyre that i need for my car (87 m325i) and the names of some good quality performance directional tyres.

I'm not that knowledgeable with tyres so your help would be appreciated.

Cheers Mavrick

Yip, the Direzza DZ101 in the 205/55/15 is the right size for you - Tane is on them aswell and I think Martyn is aswell. They don't go too bad on the track but i'll be buying some dunlop DZ02G when I get some 15" weaves...aye Gus (pm'd)

good for a street tyre..relatively hard wearing too. softish though compared to others. a helluva lot better than most tyres i have experience with (not a helluva lot of performance tyres though)

and the rim protector is nice too

I have direzzas only the scooby wagon....cant say how they are cause I dont drive it enough.

The Sport01's on the 7 are decent, but if push comes to shove I would say the Falkens were slightly better for grip.

How would one describe direzzas? Soft/Hard.. Grippy/Slippy.. Smooth loss of traction/sudden.. Anyone?

Medium to soft although with even wear, gotten 18k off mine so far with some serious track time and there's still life left (>3mm) although last track session left a massive flat spot :(

E: As for as traction they're grippy and predictable, haven't had them step out unexpectedly like the last set of tyres, can't say loss is sudden.

I dream of my last set of Falken 115's.

Im so getting them again.. just coz i dont think other tyres could be more fun

They were soft/quiet

Lotsa grip

When pushed hard would glide ever so slightly rather than squeal like hell

Decent in wet (prob coz of the two chunky grooves)
