Herbmiester 931 Report post Posted September 28, 2020 I just bought Mrs Herbmiester a VW Touareg. Car was looked after by Mike Page in Kapiti and he said its a pretty solid car. Anyway it only has one key and after looking into things it appears I have a few options. Buy one from VW. $650 buy one from locksmith $350 Buy a key only with no buttons but with transponder $150 Use a VW group key (secondhand) have the transponder reprogrammed and a key cut? Option 4 is one I have read a bit about but would like to know more anyone have any other options? The car does have comfort access so I could lock and unlock with a plain transponder key (no buttons). Any thoughts?
B.M.W Ltd 950 Report post Posted September 28, 2020 (edited) Personally because you are in Welly, I'd go genuine and have it coded to the car by the dealer or drive to Auckland and have Express keys do it. Herbmiester 931 Report post Posted September 28, 2020 Glen I am sure they are solid options but both are going to cost a fortune.
