E91 N52 No Start

Recommended Posts

Hi all, wondering if anyone had any tips or pointers as to my next move.

Car historically has been fine with no issues. Didn't drive it (isolation for a week) and now it cranks but won't start. INPA isn't finding any fault codes. Battery voltage is ~13v.

Crank or cam position sensor?

Thanks for any suggestions/help!

Also, does anyone know the duty cycle of these starters?

Has spark and I can hear fuel pump prime when triggered by INPA. Fuel pressure at the rail.

Recheck your fuel pump / filter, it should absolutely fountain out of the fuel line when priming. I have been caught out assuming that a running pump and some fuel coming when priming means the pump is all good.

Thanks heaps for that @Twistee! This is exactly what I'm after. I'll start working through it.

Interesting development. With fuel pump activated via INPA, engine *almost* started. I'm in with a sniff now.

And it starts! Although hesitant. Turned it off and starts fine now. Unsure as to what would have cause it but I want to nail it before the family gets stuck somewhere. I'll have a look a what relays fire the pump and see if they may have been getting sticky after sitting for 1 week. Or perhaps a tired fuel pump?

Thanks heaps @Twistee, I was running pretty low on patience at the time. Also a HUGE thanks to @M3AN for taking the time to show me how to use INPA the other day. Long live the forums.

Great result. 👍

Just be sure the easy start you got wasn't a result of residual pressure, you need to give it some time to depressurise before trying it again.
