2020 i3 charging

Recommended Posts

I'm about to buy a 120Ah i3 to do a 50km roundtrip commute with the odd 180km round trip.

Are there any i3 owners on here or anyone with experience of charges at home ?

Obviously the daily trip is easily doable on the standard 3-pin cable. We have a 15A plug in the garage to power a caravan I use as an office.

That should be all we need shouldn't it ?

I know plenty of i3 drivers that have only used the 3-pin plug charger to keep the car topped-up.

Can easy cope with the daily commute, you probably could miss a day and still re-charge to full overnight. Obviously take a bit longer for the 180km trip but should still be ok.

15A circuit will be great, just make sure the charger is in plenty of air / not in direct sunlight when doing the bigger charge as it has a thermal overload trip in it.

I’ve run my 60ah on 3pin 10a for last 2 years running up to 100ks a day, zero issues and wouldn’t install anything bigger for the i3, plenty of time overnight for a full recharge
