Hi everybody I'm new to this forum, after friendly advice if anyone has knowledge on e30 318i looking at purchasing 1 in wellington the seller and I have been emailing back and forth there's a few cons it's a doner car not sure what parts have been sold the seller is selling on behalf could anyone give a rough estimated valuation what these cars are worth in such conditions?  the rarity is a pro and con I am going to phone around tomorrow to see how hard or costly parts would be for these cars assuming I am going to do a full blown rebuild try to keep some parts original to that model

Blown engine

Engine slightly parted out not sure what parts are needed

Rattle can respray could be rust buried underneath lol

Missing sunroof

Im thinking i might try find m40-m44 engines at pick a part and do a full rebuild conversion with engine and associated parts that go with the conversion there's alot of scrapped e36 at pick part any advice would be helpful,

Cheers.

Hi there. regarding e30s, the values vary dependent on condition etc and what options they have. TBH if there are parts missing etc I wouldn't pay any more than 1000 to 1500 for it.

Rebuilding M42\M44 aint cheap, timing parts are expensive and some are NLA. Wouldnt surprise me if most of pick a part ones had been overheated and had blown headgaskets\damaged head, given the cars are usually in one piece. Not to mention being exposed to elements.

Probably cheaper to a worn 318i\318ti with a working engine you can check.

I pulled an M44 from the scrapyard with 90,000km on it. It's mint inside, doesn't need a rebuild at all. But my Dad is keen on a project so has been refreshing it for his E36 318is.

A bit unrelated to the rest of the thread but we took the disassembled motor to my Dad's friend from when he raced porsches. He used to build the porsche race motors, but more crucially he also built the super tourer S42s, S14s along with many M42/44.

I noticed these nice looking boxes in his garage while we were there.

Full set of S42 pistons, rods, cams, bunch of other parts too.
