Twistee 454 Report post Posted November 21 This is as close as I have ever seen anyone come to creating a proper DCT setup without having to rewire half the car and throw the factory DME in the bin. I'll be following this, if nothing else it gives owners more options than a manual swap. I love my SMG and it's something you have to embrace if you want to enjoy your ownership of these beasts, if I had to choose DCT or manual I'd go DCT all day long. Neal 545 Report post Posted November 21 I wonder if the conversion it would detract the driving experience a bit. DCT is a bit more refined from SMG so you don’t get those brutal power shifts when you’re fanging it or the ability to manually blip throttle on down shift. Noticed this going from e46 M3 smg to f80 m3 dct. I thought the smg was a bit more fun.
Driftit 2086 Report post Posted Thursday at 12:50 AM I was seriously looking into an S85 + DCT for my E34 before I moved back to NZ. My issue became having space to collate the parts and strip vehicles from co-part. And then I wasn't sure if there would be anyone back here that could help. Especially down in the lower North Island. I would still love to do it. But not with the $ at where it is. Nor would I buy the parts in NZ where a DCT costs the same as an entire car from co-part. So I will just putt around with the M30 for a bit.
