Olaf 3413 Report post Posted Monday at 09:17 AM Scant info. I know the general line is "Don't". Enquiry from a good friend - hi friend has installed "aftermarket headlights" in his 2011 F20 118i. It's bleating, throwing codes about them. I guess they're making unhappy noises into the CANBUS. What would you folks suggest?? Can it be coded out? Do you need more info about the part? Thanks for your consideration. We have an opportunity to save a non-BMW person from avoiding the Marque forever. Yes I know the PFL F20 was hit with the ugly stick at birth... cheers Olaf
M3AN 4109 Report post Posted yesterday at 03:39 AM Can of worms to be honest Olaf, even changing from halogen to xenon, or xenon to LED with genuine BMW parts is a total nightmare. To know if it were worth the effort one would first need to confirm whether the lights themselves are compatible at all with the Front Electronic (footwell) Module... even getting an authoritative response to that question might be difficult.
E30 325i Rag-Top 3026 Report post Posted yesterday at 06:50 AM As well as physically changing the lights (aka the easy bit) there will be a host of programming and / or electrical changes also required (aka the hard bit). More details on the lights before and after the changes would help a lot.
